LEARNING TO LEAD

One of my favourite Authors "John C Maxwell"  wrote this about modeling in his book "Becoming a person of Influence"

Motivating

"Modeling can be a powerful influence - either positively or negatively.  And it's something that can be done even from a distance.  But if you want to make a really significant impact on the lives of other people, you have to do it up close.

You become a motivational influencer when you encourage people and communicate with them on an emotional level.
The process does two things:

1.  It creates a bridge between you and them

2.  It builds up their confidence and sense of self-worth.

When people feel good about you and themselves during the times they're with you, then your level of influence increases significantly.

I was observing while out the other day how a woman aproached a group of people. She had a smile on her face and those that saw her smiled back and waved.  They knew her, or have seen her before because she lives in the area.  It was encouraging and inspiring to watch how she impacted those around her with her positive body language and smile.  At that moment in time - That was her circle of influence.

It might have seemed like a simple act of meeting others, yet her actions and body language left an impact on the group gathered outside on the side walk.  It left a positive impact.  It brought in sunshine, happiness, smiles and friendship.

What impact are you having on your immediate suroundings.  !!

That is why .......

Continuing education benefits individuals, communities and the economy

  • ·          Providing knowledge and skills
  • ·          Making communities more productive and innovative
  • ·          Strengthens the economy and relationships
  • ·          Assisting people to better cope with the demands of workplace changes
  • ·          Showing people how to deal with and handle stress that can consume

As we begin a New Year 2010 let us focus on the skills we can acquire to assist us in living a life of quality. These skills will benefit us in our work, social, home lives.

We cannot hope to have all these skills immediately, it is a process.

The process starts with one step at a time, one decision to improve in one area of our lives at a time.

Set yourself a goal to improve your skills.

The successful people who have achieved tell us in all books that in order to achieve you have to set goals, write them down

You will get to your destination by perseverance, courage and determination.

A great quote

“I did what I could, where I was with what I had”

Theodore Roosevelt
